The story
The brief
Fernleaf asked for an atlas of places that do not exist, for readers aged eight and up, that adults would still keep on the shelf.
What I made
Twenty-four maps and forty spot illustrations, painted in gouache and finished digitally. Every map hides a small story: a lost cat, a missing bridge, a door that only opens at night.
I drew the houses first, then the roads between them, so every place feels lived in before a single label goes on.
How it landed
The Hollow Atlas is in its third printing and has been translated into five languages.
